Pioneer パイオニア

Pioneer traces its origins to 1937, when Nozomu Matsumoto developed Japan's first dynamic loudspeaker after years of experimentation in a small workshop. He named the speaker 'Pioneer' and adopted its logo, and in 1938 formally established the company as Fukuin Shokai Denki Seisakusho in Tokyo, building and repairing radios and speakers.

The company adopted the Pioneer name for the corporation in 1961 and grew into a leading maker of audio and video equipment, becoming especially known for car audio systems, home theater receivers, and later contributing to the development of the automotive CD player and detachable-face car stereos. Pioneer also pioneered plasma display and laserdisc technology before refocusing on its core car electronics and DJ equipment businesses in later years.
